Tip of Borneo , Kudat , Sabah 婆罗州之天崖海角

Gazing the sea at Tip of Borneo, 7 degrees north of equator in the evening during sunset. On my right, Sulu Sea and on my left South China Sea. It was windy and cloudy. Magnificent view washed away my tiredness of travel. Vigorous wave struck on rock shore.

Immediately after leaving our baggage to room we left to Tip of Borneo to catch the chance to enjoy sun set view there. Sabah sun set around 6pm.

As soon as we arrived Kota Kinabalu Terminal 2 airport on 7th November 2013, we rent a car to Kudat. Flagged off after pumping petrol and setting 'Tanjung Simpang Mengayau Tip Of Borneo Car Park' as destination in Garmin GPS. On the way we dropped by Likas for quick lunch at a Chinese restaurant which charged RM6 for a plate of roasted duck noodle.

We had been driving for almost 5 hours instead of 3.5 hours as expecting from Terminal 2 to Tip Of Borneo in Kudat for 250 km journey. The road condition in the beginning part of the journey was good other than we had to be aware of local animals like cows or dogs passing by. There were signboards showing the way to Kudat from Kota Kinabalu town. Road condition in the last 25 km near by Tip Of Borneo was bad. It was partially unpaved and bumpy and we could only move in 30km/hr with Viva. Approaching Kudat district, lot of signboard pointing to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau Borneo.

We stayed in Borneo Tip Beach Lodge which was 1 km from Tip Of Borneo opposite Kalampuniam beach. I was happy with this no frill lodge which provide simple, basic and clean environment. TV only available in dinning area. Our room was facing sea though beach view was blocked by some trees. It was only five minutes walking distance to the beach. The lodge served All American Breakfast or Local Fried Noodles with sausage and fried egg as complimentary. The lodge restaurant did serve other dish like fried rice or noodle for RM8 per plate for lunch and dinner. I was satisfied with the quality of food though it was not something outstanding.

Poor signal for 3G or edge internet service around Tip of Borneo. Maxis, Digi and Celcom mobile network available at Kudat.

Some local people do suggest me to watch sun rise around 6am from Sulu Sea. Unfortunately I had no luck for it as it was too cloudy.

Visited Kudat town in the noon for our lunch. We had chicken rice and noodle in price range RM6 to RM8.
